Let's Make Art - A Daily Art Challenge - Introduction

Hey hey makers!

Looking for a way to expand your creativity?

I believe that everyone is creative.

Sometimes, though, the responsibilities of day-to-day life get in the way of practicing or developing our creativity.

Sometimes the circumstances of life cause us to believe the lie that we're not creative.

And while creativity is so much more broad than art or crafts or making, making of all kinds is my favorite creative practice. So I'm here to help you cultivate and develop your creativity through your products, teaching, coaching, and abundant encouragement.

Let's make some art!

My goal in this Let's Make Art series is to give you some easy art ideas on a regular basis, in the hope that you develop your own daily art sketchbook or some kind of regular creative practice.

I'm going to strive to give you a quick, easy art idea every weekday. But as part of this practice, we're going to practice having grace and empathy with ourselves. And that's a reminder to me too.

I have a daily practice to help you make art.

I'd love for you to join me.

You can use what I do as a springboard for yourself if you want. Honestly, in the beginning, I'm planning to wing it a little.

Down the line, I may decide to post some prompts ahead of time, but in the beginning, our main goal is just to make something regularly, whatever that may look like.

So here are the rules.

Rule number one you get to make your own rules. Decide what your parameters are.

I told you my main one. I'm striving to post something for you every weekday, but I'm keeping it flexible so that I can keep it achievable.

Some days I might put something out that I think is really cool. Some days it might be very, very basic. It might be lines or a line.

It still counts.

I will probably work ahead sometimes, meaning that if I know that I have something coming up, I'll work ahead and then I can schedule the postings for later. Then I can take a few days off as I need to.

It counts.

Whatever your rules are, make them simple and flexible so that you can give yourself some quick wins.

What we're trying to do here is to flex your creative muscle. There's no failing here.

Rule number two. Do you need one?

If you do, cool. Set whatever parameter you need to be successful.

If you need to, set a specific time. If you need to decide what media you're going to use ahead of time, great. Do that.

But if you don't need to make it any more complicated, then don't.

Again, we're just looking to get into some kind of regular creative practice. For me, I'm keeping it very loose at the beginning because I need the opportunity for novelty to help me maintain a regular practice.

Subscribe to the newsletter and/or subscribe on YouTube so that you can get updates to help you start or maintain your own creative practice.

Let me know in the comments what your plans are.

Happy Making!!
